The Reef

35km from camp running parallel to the coast is 150km of untouched, pristine reef to explore. There are also a few islands  about 60km from camp in the reef belt.

Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Giant Trevally, Barracuda, Wahoo, Dorado, Sierra (King Mackerel),  Bonito, Yellowfin Tuna are the main species caught on a catch and release basis.  35-45kg GTs are common place. 38kg King Mackerel has been caught. Two marlin were hooked in one day. Please look through the calendar for the best fishing times.

THE WRECK

A container ship fell prey to the pristine reef, about 60km from the camp. Effectively  creating a Fish Aggregating Device. Catches of 14 GTs per boat have been recorded. The fishing is absolutely incredible and compares as one of the best fishing spots in the world.

The Continental shelf drops off at the closest point to land in Mozambique about 45km from the camp.  Depth variations from 60m to 900m within 3km are observed. This is Marlin heaven.

THE ISLANDS

Pictured Left is Ila de Casarina. Awesome Dive and snorkelling sites can be found around the surrounding atoll. The fishing grounds are within 5minutes from the island. The trip to the island must be organised in advance as it is a 1 hour 45min journey by boat and the weather must be perfect. Due to the fact that extra fuel is carried only 4 people per boat + skipper are allowed.  Overnight camping is often an option for the island trips.
